Susan Sawatzki
We remember Howard and Ruby with such warmth and fondness, though our times together were few and far between. Howard was such a godly servant! In his quiet thoughtful way, he noticed needs and stepped up to meet them. They often hosted us in their home when we were passing through. Our girls still remember a time when they were both small and Howard taking the effort to hoist them up (maybe a ladder?) to let them see a tiny hummingbird nest. Another time we needed a vehicle just to get our daughter to Bible School and ourselves to the airport for a rental car. Howard made sure their van was free for us to use, and when one of our (then older) girls forgot her earbuds in a motel in Charleston, WV, somehow Howard found out about it and arranged with one of his siblings who lived there to get them from the motel and mail them to us! Wow, Howard!
We know you all deeply miss this wise, gentle, godly man. I loved it when he would share what God was teaching him.
Dear Ruby, Jean, and all of you, may you know the Lord's comfort for this Valley of Weeping (Baca) that we must pass through, yet "going from strength to strength" even if at times it feels there is no strength yet.
With real gratitude for the privilege of knowing Howard, Susan for the Sawatzki Family
