Alan Dale LeCrone

Alan D. LeCrone, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, on May 3, 2023, age 70 at the Henry Ford Hospice Home. Alan was born on September 19, 1952, in York, Pennsylvania to Dale S. LeCrone and Nadine (Wolf) Heberlig, she survives. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shelley of 22 years, his sons Chuck (Elise), and Corey (Doni) LeCrone, daughter, Kimberly (Wilford) Sloan and one step-son Scott Loud. Four grandchildren, Charlee, Porter, Novie LeCrone and Brayden Sloan, Brothers Dale (Irene) LeCrone and Mike (Paige) Donahoe, Sister-in-Law, Janet LeCrone, several, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many many friends. Alan was preceded in death by his father, Dale S. LeCrone, Step Mother, Margaret LeCrone and three brothers, Brian, Phillip and Neil LeCrone. Alan lived in Harrisburg, PA until he was 14 years old, at which time he moved to Jackson, Michigan. He was a graduate of Napoleon High School and attended Jackson Community College. He worked several jobs including Woolworths and Shoppers Fair before finally accepting a management position with the Wendy’s Restaurant franchise, Stanton & Associates, in 1975. In 2001, Alan along with his three partners Dave Wenglekowski, Mark Behm and Randy Israel, purchased the franchise from David J. Stanton, and grew it to 67 Wendy’s restaurants and also five Biggby’s. Alan formally retired in 2016, when the business was sold. After retirement, he briefly worked as a consultant with his family’s business, LeMatic, Inc., a Bakers Equipment Manufacturer. Alan was very active in the community, and would give back whenever he could. He was involved with the National Kidney Foundation Michigan Chapter, Jackson Y.M.C.A., Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, and many non-profit organizations. He was an avid golfer, snow and water skier. Some of his favorite trips were going out west skiing with friends and later, his sons. He taught all his children and grandchildren to snow ski. He looked forward to going to The Homestead in Glen Arbor every year with the family to snow ski. During the warm months you would find him traveling to different golf courses around the US with friends. One of his favorite memories was golfing in the Men’s Senior Golf League in Hawaii. He enjoyed watching his children and then grandchildren perform in school events and participate in various sports. Alan and his wife entertained friends on most holidays, major sporting events and hosted several Murder Mystery Dinners. He also looked forward to Wine Tasting trips with friends. Alan coached Soccer for both of his sons throughout their years of playing. He also coached Baseball in his younger years. He enjoyed going dancing, playing cards and board games, especially Mexican Train, or as he called it Michigan Train. He loved listening to all types of music, especially Motown, Jazz, the Blues and the Solid Gold Oldies of the 50’s and 60’s. Alan loved the water. A couple favorite trips were boating around the Bahama Islands with his wife and friends. Later in life he fulfilled his dream of owning a large boat, a 35’ Sea-ray that he named the Mi Amore, after his wife, Shelley. They were able to travel to Europe on several occasions, and experienced a trip of a life time with good friends to Egypt. Alan earned the nickname Tommy Bahama. It wasn’t often you would catch him in any other clothing line but Tommy Bahama. Per Alans request, he has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 3:00 in the afternoon, at the Country Club of Jackson, 3135 Horton Road, Jackson.
