Gordon Thomas Stone

Gordon Thomas Stone, 86, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Chelsea Hospital. Gordon’s family and friends will gather Friday, October 3, 2025 at Jackson Free Methodist Church, 2829 Park Drive, Jackson. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, followed by his Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mark Murphy officiating. He was born on February 28, 1939 in Alma, Michigan to Rev. Raymond and Gladys (Paulson) Stone. Gordon married the love of his life, Marilyn Kraft, on December 28, 1968 in Jamestown, North Dakota with both fathers officiating the ceremony. Above all, he loved the Lord with his whole heart and will be remembered for his strong faith in Jesus, which was demonstrated by his love and dedication to family, as well as his involvement in his church communities, both in Michigan and in Florida. After retirement, he was promoted to Snow Bird where he wintered in Lakeland FL at Light & Life Park along with lifelong friends. Gordon had a terrific sense of humor and was a fantastic story teller. He will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Gordon was a 1957 graduate of Marysville High School, then attended Spring Arbor College, Roberts Wesleyan College, and University of Michigan where he earned his bachelor’s degree majoring in both Business Administration and Economics. He was an avid reader and remained active throughout his life biking, golfing, and bowling. His love of travel took him and his wife around the world, including climbing Jamaica’s Dunn’s River Falls at the age of 85 while on a cruise with the entire family. He was very handy, spending many years renovating homes, including their 180-year-old farmhouse. He also enjoyed classic cars (especially his Corvette), and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Gordon is survived by his cherished wife of 56 years, Marilyn; children Kristen (Corey) Lewis and Michael (Rhonda) Stone; grandchildren Coltrane, Eliseo (Sophia), Hezekiah (Kayelyn), and Shilah Lewis, and Annalise and Cameron Stone; siblings Janette Krampien and Roger (Karen) Stone; many nieces and nephews; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gladys Stone; parents-in-law Ralph and Lillian Kraft; sister Lorraine Zahnow; and several brothers and sister-in-law.
