Lawrence J. "Larry" Kujawa

Age 87, of Wolf Lake, passed away September 19, 2018 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon; four children, John (Pam), James (Marilyn), and Paula Kujawa, and Kelly (Marc) Settineri; six grandchildren, Janelle (Dean) Hoopes, Jordan and Kyle Kujawa, Alexis, Joe and Melina Settineri; sister-in-law, Joyce Hickory and nephews, William Tenuta, Todd and Kirk Hickory. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Cullen Kujawa; sister, Norma Kujawa and his parents, John and Dorothy (maiden-Panfil) Kujawa. Mr. Kujawa served the nation in the US Air Force where his fluency in languages found him working as an interpreter. He earned his bachelor's degree at Michigan State University; retired from Consumers Energy as a systems analyst and served two terms as the Napoleon Township Supervisor where he was able to see the completion of a new township hall and fire station (Larry felt this was his finest accomplishment). He was a long time member of the now defunct Jackson Sno-Roamers Snowmobile Club, a former long time member of the Napoleon Lions Club and a member and Past Master of Napoleon Lodge #301, Free and Accepted Masons. He was dedicated to his family, enjoyed the family dogs and the long walks with them, riding his bicycle, playing golf, swimming, ice skating on Wolf Lake, snowmobiling, fishing (especially when on a steelhead stream) and deer hunting. He enjoyed trips to Florida in early spring, a special fishing trip to Alaska with his friends from Consumers Energy, reunions with his Air Force friends in Branson and Biloxi and trips to northern Michigan with his wife, spending time on their boat "The Fishtale". He was a dedicated friend of Bill Wilson. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11 am with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon, MI. Graveside Military Honors will be provided by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 pm and on Tuesday morning from 10 am until service time. The family would like to thank the helpful staffs at Vista Grande Villa and the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital and Hospice Home, as well as Dr. Lynn Van Wagnen and his staff for their care and support in his final days. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Jackson Area 19 Special Olympics or the Salvation Army.
