Alice Veronica Spangler's Obituary
Alice Veronica (Schroeder) Spangler, born February 16th 1933, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6th 2023. On August 23, 1958 she was wed to Leland C. Spangler who survives. Also surviving are their children: Leland Joseph Spangler (Denise), Tracey Natke (Paul), Shannon Frantz, and Celene Jackson (Christopher), eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings James Schroeder (Virginia), Ruth Altstaetter, Ronald Schroeder (Elizabeth), and Carole Kelley.
Alice was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Gertrude Schroeder of Kalida, Ohio and four sisters Mary Ann Schroeder, Jane Schroeder, Grace Schulte, and Marjorie O’Neil, and son-in-law Carl Frantz.
Alice graduated from St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, Ohio as a registered nurse. She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and in later years practiced nursing in Pontiac, MI, DeKalb, IL, and Lock Haven, PA.
Alice was a loving wife and mother who lived her life according to her strong Roman Catholic faith. Alice’s always bright smile and humble personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Alice’s family and friends will gather at 10:00AM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Clarklake, MI. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM, following the gathering. Fr. Thomas Helfrich, OSFS to serve as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita Catholic Church or to Lumen Christi High School.
