Alice M. Truax (Clemons)'s Obituary
Age 100, of Napoleon Township, passed away at home under the loving care of her family on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Born in Jackson, MI on July 31, 1916 to Archie and Mildred (Austin) McKinstry; after her father's death, she was adopted by Harry Koppin. Alice married Carl Clemons in 1935, he passed away in 1965; she then married Emanuel "Buster" Truax who passed away in 1986; also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Susan Clemons and sister, Lois Bourdeaux. Alice is survived by three daughters, Donna (Richard) Ekin, Virginia "Ginny" Brunk and Karlene (Calvin) Rydjord; two sons, David (Reni) Clemons and Gerald Clemons; 15 grandchildren; many loved great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Alice lived on the same farm since 1940, where she raised her five children. She worked as a farm wife and retired from Jackson Community College as a building/faculty clerk. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, travel, working puzzles and exercising with her Napoleon group. Alice loved country living and watching her birds and deer. She was a member of the Napoleon United Methodist Church, SERA, AARP, MARSP and the Dahlem Conservancy. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Greg Wolfe officiating. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.
