Alphonzo Woodrow ""Al"" ""Fonnie"" Kemler's Obituary
Age 96, of Jackson, passed away at his step-daughter's home May 30, 2015 under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Hospice. He is survived by his wife; Shirley Ann, six step-children; Susan (Dan) Austin, Judy (Billy) Taylor, Audrey Halliwell, Bryon (Angie) Houtz, Michael (Barb) Houtz and Richard (Carla) Babbitt, many grand and great-grand children, special nephew; Harold (Kathleen) Kemler, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris, parents; Peter and Lucy Mae (maiden-Rowe) Kemler and four siblings; Beulah, Helen, Nieta and Clarence. Mr. Kemler served the nation in the US Army ETO World War II, retired as a lathe operator from Wyman-Gordon, was a member of the Richard Smith American Legion Post #29, Jackson and was a dedicated member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #612, Jackson, where he served as trustee, was a past president, held membership for 74 years and was in the Michigan Eagles Hall of Fame. Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11 am with Pastor Richard Brooks officiating. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening 5-8 pm with an Eagles Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 pm. Graveside military honors will be offered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Contributions in his memory are directed to the F.O.E. Aerie 612.
