Arleen G. (Toops) Rowley's Obituary
Age 89, of Michigan Center, passed away January 24, 2016 at Arbor Manor Care Center. She is survived by four children; Elizabeth (Anthony) D'Amore, Patricia Heady, David (Valerie) Toops and Robert (Ruth) Toops, nine grandchildren; Michael and Matthew D'Amore, Laura, Elena, and Daphne Toops, Isabelle (Matias) Medel and Christopher, Michael and Kathryn Heady, one great-grandson; Ciro Medel. She was preceded in death by her husband Edson M. Rowley, former husband Edward Toops , brother Sydney Ward Gould Jr., and her parents, Sydney W. and Beatrice C. (maiden-Lomas) Gould Sr. Mrs. Rowley was a high school graduate of Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Vassar then a Masters Degree in Music from Indiana University. She was an accomplished composer of published Sacred Music and a Life Master of Bridge. She was a longtime member of the Jackson Newcomers and Friends Club and an active volunteer with many groups in her life, notably as the longtime secretary at Ella Sharp Museum. Mrs. Rowley has been cremated. Her cremains will be interred with her late parents in West Haven, Connecticut.
