Arthur "Bill" William Neef's Obituary
Age 91, of Wolf Lake, Napoleon Township, passed away at his home April 25, 2017. He is survived by three sons, David, Eric and Jonathan, three daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann "Liz" (Houck) in 2008 after 61 years of marriage, his son, Stephen and parents, Erwin and Irma (Brand) Neef. He was born in Detroit, graduated from Lincoln High School, Ferndale, MI in 1944, and served in the US Army Air Corp in 1944-45. His primary career was Vice-President and Purchasing Manager at Welding Metals, Inc. in the Detroit area for 27 years, later retiring to the Wolf Lake area. Among his "Retirement" ventures he operated Wolf Lake Sailboards out of his home & owned The Place Disco in Brooklyn. He was a proud and longtime member of the Napoleon Lions Club, ran the Bingo Games and served as Club Treasurer for many years. He volunteered Tax Counseling services for the Elderly, the RSVP Medical Driving program and served three years on the Napoleon Twp. Planning Commission. He was an avid Apple-II computer user and wrote 19 articles for the National AppleWorks Users Group. Mr. Neef has been cremated. His family remembers him as an exceptionally honorable father who commanded respect without demanding anything. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Larry Rubingh officiating. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Napoleon Lions Club or Grass Lake Recreation Park, or other charity if so desired.
