Barbara Lela Drechnowicz (Rice)'s Obituary
DRECHNOWICZ (RICE), BARBARA LELA Went Home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2013. She was under the loving care of family and Southern Care Hospice. Barb was born September 9, 1931 to Ted and Amelia (Schuler) Rice. She lived a vibrant life; working many years as a waitress, an area that gave her much joy in sharing smiles with strangers. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, camping, crafts and puttering with projects around the house. Barb always had an urge to help others in a loving, caring manner. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed; son, Earl Hughes; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Drechnowicz; sister, Betty Burse; brothers, Jim and Carl Rice. She is survived by five children, Edward Drechnowicz, Louis (Carol) Hughes, Lorraine (Dan) McIntosh, Frank (Lorrae) Drechnowicz and Katrina (Tom) Strub; 14 grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Drechnowicz, Debbie (Stephen) Drechnowicz, Robert Drechnowicz, David Hughes, Nathan Hughes, Tamara Nicholson, Scott Hughes, Earl Hughes Jr., Jeremiah Hughes, Steven McIntosh, Tashia McIntosh, Kelly Hanson, Jason Bradley and Michael Garlanger; nine great-grandchildren, Noah Drechnowicz, Cody Fisher, Samantha Hughes, Shelby Hughes, Chevi Hughes, Brennan Hughes, Megan Nicholson, Braidy Conway and Jordan McIntosh; one great-great-granddaughter, Kaydence Grace Hughes; two sisters, Anna (Bob) Howard and Carol LaRocque; and one grand dog, Mary. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service to Celebrate her Homegoing will be on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the House of Prayer, 1056 Bryant Avenue in Jackson.
