Bob Linenfelser's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Linenfelser, age 73 of Jackson, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born on August 29, 1950 in Highland Park, MI to Carl and Lelah (Richart) Linenfelser who proceeded him in death.
Bob was a 1968 graduate of Columbia Central High School. He then went on to Jackson Business College where he received an Associate’s Degree in Business. Bob married Jeanette Elrod on September 25, 1970; they were married for 25 years. He later married Michelle Gloar on August 21, 1999 and they were married for 16 years.
Bob started work for the family company “Brooklyn Products” in 1970, he devoted his entire career to the company and the community for the next 53 years. He lived his life by the company mission statement, “Do the right thing”. After his father (the founder) passed, Bob became the President and later the CEO. His purpose and love for the family business was to honor his late father’s legacy; who he so deeply missed. At just 28 years of age, Bob took over with the understanding that he had big shoes to fill and followed in his dad’s footsteps proudly.
Bob loved life and nobody was more precious to him than his family. Bob’s generosity was larger than life, as he contributed to countless individuals, organizations, and charities. Carl J. Linenfelser Scholarship Program, Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn Kiwanis, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, NRA, Toys for Tots, NASCAR Driver Sponsorships, Columbia Education Foundation, Jackson Area Manufacturers Association, Brooklyn Community Chest, Brooklyn Sportsman Club, National Federation of Independent Business, Brooklyn Moose, Bremen Police Department, Junior Achievement, Lyle A Torrant, Center, Adopt-a-Highway, Junior Achievement, and Nite Lites; the list is unceasing.
He just wanted to help everyone as much as possible and make an impact on them. He received multiple awards for his many hours of service such as, Boss of the year by WJR in Detroit, Citizen of the year and Business of the year from Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce, Director's award from Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce, The President’s Award from Michigan Plastic Processors Association was awarded to him 3 times during his career. In addition, he served on several Board of Directors including Comerica Bank, Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Plastic Processors, The Fairways Association, and the Brooklyn Area Community Chest.
He shared the love of nature and wildlife, hunting and fishing. You could find him taking long leisurely walks in the woods, where he would find morel mushrooms. Bob was always the first to spot a deer in an open field. Other interests through the years were family time, golfing, NASCAR, and socializing with his friends. He was a long-time season ticket holder of Michigan International Speedway and the biggest MSU fan. He loved to travel out west to bag an elk and his trips to Canada where he scored ducks and geese.
Bob will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Lisa (Baron) Bascom of Brooklyn, MI, Brian (Stephanie) Linenfelser of LaVergne, TN: stepchildren, Brandon Gloar, Chrissy (Jason) Weitzel: grandchildren, Bailey Bascom, Lylah Linenfelser, Anndreah Linenfelser; step-grandchildren Chayce Gloar, Connor Weitzel and Ailee Weitzel: step-great-grandchild, Braxton Gloar: Sisters, Susie (Ken) Chason: Carol (Craig) Ashworth: Tina (Bob) Ashworth; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition, countless friends, employees, colleagues, suppliers and customers.
Visitation will take place on Friday September 22, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Eineder Funeral Home in Brooklyn, MI. A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 23rd, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Michigan International Speedway’s Champions Club (use tunnel entrance off of Brooklyn Hwy).
