Bonita Louise Clink's Obituary
Age 79, of Summit Township, formerly of Clark Lake, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ October 29, 2017, peacefully at home under the loving care of her family and special caregivers Amanda Bertoia, Marvin Brock, Monica Laughlin and Heartland Hospice. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lloyd Clink, three children, Debbie (Jack) Plate, Doug (Terrie) Clink and Pam Peterson, loving grandmother to Ross (Jackie) Plate, Lindsay Plate, Lauren Plate, Andy (Monica) Clink, Allison (Tyler) LaCroix, Alex Clink, Stephanie (Trevor) Krajewski and Hannah Peterson, great-grandmother of Jack Ross Plate Jr., Soren and Kieran Clink and Oliver LaCroix, her sisters and best friends, Patricia Platt, Lois Jackson and Catherine (George) Barrie, sisters-in-law, Ruth (Wayne) Stockton and Yvonne Aftanas, many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Tressa (Peevy) Shumway. She was born in Lake Odessa October 24, 1938, graduated from Jackson High School in 1956, attended Fort Wayne Bible College with hopes of being a missionary. Her mission turned out to be the classroom and local community, graduating with a Bachelor's of Education from MSU. She taught kindergarten and first grade at Blissfield, Jackson Public and Napoleon before retiring from Columbia Schools after many years as a pre-school teacher. She also sold real estate and owned and operated the areas first upscale resale store, The Bonnie Shop. In retirement she was a diligent worker at her church and devoted grandmother. She started a chapter of the "Red Hat Society" here in Jackson and in Florida where she and Lloyd wintered. A Celebration of her life will be held at the Jackson Free Methodist Church (2829 Park Drive) Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1 pm with Pastors Mark Murphy and Jason Engle officiating. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon, Michigan. Visitation will be held at St. Aidan's Church (361 East Grove, Michigan Center on Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Contributions in her memory are directed to her church, the Alzheimer's Foundation or Heartland Hospice.
