Bruce Alan Andrews' Obituary
Known for his kind spirit, strong moral compass, and gritty perseverance, Bruce Andrews peacefully crossed his final finish line on July 3, 2026, surrounded by his family. The son of Betty and Bill Andrews, Bruce was born on June 17, 1948. His All-American childhood taught him the simple joys of gardening, how to ride a pony like Roy Rogers, and the dangers of a frog spear. He graduated from Holgate High School and headed to Bowling Green State University, where he worked in the cafeteria and first met Beth, who became the love of his life and wife of 55 years. He picked her up in his gold Oldsmobile 442 and they were married on March 27, 1971. Bruce enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and he proudly served in Thailand and in the National Guard. He was a top salesman throughout his career at Bostwick Braun and his sales territory brought Bruce and Beth to Brooklyn, where they raised their family. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and served his community on the Zoning Board of Appeals.Bruce was often seen on training runs, preparing for his next event. He ran in 391 races, including 63 half marathons, one full marathon and a 50K, always looking to better his times and collect some hardware. He hiked the Narrows, Angel’s Landing, and MacCreadys and enjoyed golfing with his friends.From camping in Yellowstone to fishing in the gulf, from running behind a wobbly two wheeler to extra batting practice, Bruce provided a great life for his family.Bruce is survived by his wife Elizabeth Andrews of Brooklyn, and their children: Heather (Chad) Patrick, Robb (Theresa) Andrews, and Randy Andrews. His legacy will carry on through his grandchildren: Jacob, Joey, Kaitlyn, Shirley, Ruth, Ruby, Claire, Robbie, Meredith and Matthew Andrews. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie (Dwight) Kalita of Defiance, OH, and nephews, Brian (Miae) Kalita, and Kevin (Patti) Kalita, and aunt Annabelle Roth. He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Eineder Funeral Home in Brooklyn, with a scripture service at 7:00. Fr. Bosco Padamattummal will celebrate the funeral mass at 11:00 AM, at St. Rita Catholic Church, with an additional visitation for the hour prior to the mass. Innichement of ashes will follow at the St. Rita Columbarium. Memorials are suggested to Henry Ford Hospice or St. Rita Catholic Church.
