Charlene R. Young's Obituary
Age 86, of Leoni Township, passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City on January 5, 2015. Charlene was born March 13, 1928 in Jackson to Bion Trumble and Alice Trumble Campbell, who preceded her in death, along with Robert, her husband of 45 years; sister, Catherine (Toppy) Wyllis; brother, Robert Fall; son-in-law, Rich Griggs and ""son"", Mark Peevey. She is survived by son, David of Missouri; daughters, Cheryl Hamilton (Alan Montemayor) of San Antonio, Marsha Griggs of Grass Lake and Loretta Young (Michael Cole) of Traverse City; grandchildren, Laura (Richard) Makouske, Mollie Behm, Blake (Zoe) Hamilton and Jon Montemayor; great grandchildren, Claire and Elliott Makouske; brother, Bud (Ruth) Fall; many beloved nieces and nephews; special friends, Joan Locke and Barb Warner. Charlene was a graduate of JHS June Class of 1945. She worked with her daughter at Loretta's Portraits for 25 years, then at Subway for 7 years. Charlene loved her flowers and hummingbirds, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Laura and Mollie's school activities and became ""Grandma"" to many of their friends at East Jackson. Charlene and Bob lived on their Sesquicentennial Farm for 45 years, which she maintained on her own for the next 18 years after his death. She traveled with Bob throughout the country in their motor homes and enjoyed their cottages in Harrison. Charlene was a 17-year survivor of ovarian cancer. She lived life to the fullest. She always had ""things to do."" She was an avid card sender. Charlene's favorite words were, ""If it is meant to be, it will be."" and ""What goes around, comes around."" Visitation and services at Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home in Michigan Center. Pastor Joseph O'Neill of Mt. Hope Bible Church will officiate. Visitation on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral on Friday, January 16 at 11:00 AM. Following burial at Maxon Cemetery, a luncheon will be held at St Johns United Church of Christ, 801 South Mechanic Street, Jackson.
