Charles Richmond Dixon's Obituary
Age 74, of Napoleon Township, passed away at his home under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Caring Hospice July 6, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Hatt) Dixon; two children, Troy (Christine) Dixon, of Portland OR; Tracy (Jerry) Basnaw; two step-children, Chad Serianni and Alison (Gordon) Gietek; eight grandchildren, Tyler Serianni, Josh Basnaw, Clara Dixon, Katelyn Basnaw, Sara Gietek, Kayla Gietek, Jillian Dixon and Nora Dixon; two sisters, Delores Peterson and Ruanna 'Patsy' (Charlie) Dennis; God-daughter, Tara Patterson; many nieces and nephews and his loving dogs, Zoe and Daisy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Shelton and Stella Dixon. Charles served the nation in the US Army during the Vietnam War, retired after a 35 year career with the US Postal Service serving as Postmaster for three years at Hanover and six years at Albion. He enjoyed all sports but was especially a U of M Wolverine Football Fan. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Hospice Chaplain Rev. David Cornwell officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service time. Military Honors will be offered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Cascades Humane Society.
