Chester R. "Chet" Bristow Sr.'s Obituary
Age 78, of Summit Township, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital - Ann Arbor. Chet was born in Jackson, Michigan on Saturday, January 8, 1944 to the late Harry and Kathleen R. (Murphy) Bristow.
He is survived by two sons, Chester R (Debbie) Bristow Jr. and Todd Bristow; six grandchildren, Misty Bristow, Brandon Lykens, Chester "Robbie" Bristow IV, Mirranda Bristow, Carla Bristow and Tyler Bristow; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Bristow, Chuck (Melanie) Bessey and Bill Bessey; daughter; Tina Good; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother who raised him, Grace Bristow; his former wife who he stayed close with, Georgianna Bristow and his grandson, Chester R. Bristow III.
Chet was a graduate of Northwest High School. He served the Nation in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the State Prison of Southern Michigan as their Fire Inspector. He also retired from Blackman Township Public Safety Department as their fire inspector and Deputy Chief of Fire Operations. He was a certified Police Officer who worked part time for many local municipalities in his career. He loved best the job of grandfather, spending time with his grandkids and attending all of their sporting events. In retirement, he loved working at Pizza Time with his son and then with Shea'Nanigans Restaurant in Hudson.
Services will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 11:00 am with Chaplain Judith Gunnett officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday evening from 6-8pm. Interment will take place at Roseland Memorial Gardens. Cemetery military honors will be offered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
