Corbid "Clayton" Tackett's Obituary
Corbid “Clayton” Tackett, 92, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at his home. Corbid’s family and friends will gather from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. His funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM. Pastor Fritz Kruse from North Rome Baptist will officiate. Private interment will take place at Highland Cemetery.
Corbid was born on February 15, 1931, in Myra, Kentucky to McKinley and Margret (Greer) Tackett. He married the love of his life, Katie Johnson, on September 25, 1952, in Kentucky and together they had 2 children. Corbid will be remembered as a dedicated family man and a mentor to many. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting deer, ducks, and rabbits. He worked for General Motors for 30 years and retired at the age of 51 and was retired for 41 years. Corbid served in the Army Corps of Engineers and was a Korean- War Veteran. He was also a lifetime member of the Brooklyn Sportsman’s Club and the Masonic lodge where he was a free mason.
Corbid will be missed by his sister, Marlene Hunt, 5 grandchildren, Steven (Robin) Tackett, Clayton William Tackett, Amber Tackett, Travis (Melissa) Tackett, and Cody Tackett; 10 great-granddaughters; and 4 great- great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his children Ernest and Darlene.
