Daniel Earl Pickett's Obituary
Age 94, formerly of Michigan Center, passed away at the Arbor Woods Assisted Living Center under the care of their staff and SouthernCare Hospice. He is survived by two children; Cathy (Marty) Kimball and Dan E. (Theresa) Pickett, two step-daughters; Jill (John Warren) Watts and Sue (Ron) Butler, grandchildren; Daniel (Naomi) Pickett, Kate (Patrick) Butler, Monte (Linda) Kimball and Beth (Marty) Gister, step-grandchildren; Larry (Casey) Dobie, Nicole (Johnny Benson) Homer, Andrew Dobie and Amber Headley, great-grandchildren; Milla, Liam, Teegan, Andy and Ryan, step-great-grandchildren; Logan Dobie, Kathryn and Zachary Homer. He was preceded in death by his first wife; Donna Jean (maiden-Goss) Pickett in 2004 after 57 years of marriage and his second wife; Mary Jane (maiden-Bates) Pickett in 2019 after 14 years of marriage, infant grandson K. Ryan Pickett and his parents; Arlo and Zella (maiden-Truesdale) Pickett. Dan served the nation in the US Navy during World War II. His father, Arlo was a Jackson City Fireman who died in the line of duty when Dan was 18 months old. Dan and his brother Bob became firefighters in their father's footsteps. He served as Fire Chief for Leoni Township and then became a Jackson City Fireman, serving as firefighter, longtime Captain and retiring as the Assistant Fire Chief.. He loved to fish and hunt, spending countless hours in the outdoors with his son, son-in-law and grandsons. He rode thousands of miles on snowmobiles with the Jackson Sno-Roamers Snowmobile Club. Mr. Pickett has been cremated. He will be laid to rest next to Donna in Roseland Memorial Gardens at a private service.
