Darel Morgan's Obituary
Age 78, of Michigan Center, passed away at his beloved lakefront home December 27, 2016. He is survived by his daughters, Vicky Morgan and Lisa Morgan, two sisters, Peggy Morgan (Mark) Lee, Elizabeth Morgan (Fred) Salzman, two nieces, Tina (Bill) Kendal and Morgan Lee, nephew Mark Morgan Lee, son-in-law, Thomas Potter, grandchildren, Nicole (Adam) Coxon, John Ross (Amy) Henry, and Keegan, Collin, Devon and Caitlin and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Potter, parents, Darel E. and Betty Jane (Whedon) Morgan Sr. and niece, Roxanna Faber. Darel was born in Jackson August 24, 1938. He was the owner/manager of Cut Rate Plumbing and Heating Supplies and Morgan Distributing Company. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Master's Degree in Mathematics, then worked on a PHD in Astro-Physics at U of M. He influenced those around him in many ways. A cousin followed his love of Boolean logic and Math and then studied Computer Programming at the University of California, Berkeley, eventually becoming head of R and D for an international corporation. Darel loved flying his private plane and held an instrument rated private license, he also had a Master Diving Certificate and enjoyed boating and traveling when time allowed. Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Richard Brooks officiating. Interment Roseland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening 5-8 pm. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Cascades Humane Society 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202.
