Darlene Joyce Smith's Obituary
Age 92, of Blackman Township, passed away at the Arbor Woods Assisted Living Center May 29, 2020. She is survived by her children; Fred (Marilyn) Smith, Cindy (Bob) Kahle, Susan (Tom) Hankins, Joseph (Melinda) Smith, Ronald (April) Smith and Kathy (Kevin) Steller, eighteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Eugene Smith in 1998, two children; Keith Smith and Linda Wells and her grandson; Chris Hankins. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her time with family. She retired after 30 years as a cashier at Kroger and also had worked at the Napoleon IGA. During World War II she had a "Rosie the Riveter" job in support of the war effort at Sparton Electronics in Jackson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 1, 2020 from 6-8 pm with the current COVID restrictions of ten visitors at a time. Private interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park next to her late husband with Phil Stout,, Chaplain SouthernCare Hospice officiating. Darlene's family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Arbor Woods and also SouthernCare Hospice for their dedicated support and caring.
