Darrell Robert Omans' Obituary
Darrell Robert Omans, 67, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022. Darrell’s family and friends will gather Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel (formerly Arthur Day Funeral Home). His funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon. Rev. Chuck McNeil will serve as celebrant.
He was born on November 5, 1955, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Robert and Merlene (Smith) Omans. Darrell married the love of his life, Marsha Mitchell, on September 9, 1983, in Trenton, Maine. He will be remembered for his love of music and his vast LP, CD and cassette collection. Darrell was a Conductor for Amtrak Railways for 38 years, retiring at the age of 60. He was a graduate of Michigan Center High School, Class of 1973 and a member of the UTU Railroad Union. Darrell loved watching and feeding the birds, along with his 8 cats. He enjoyed playing in the stock market and golfing. Above all, Darrell loved his family and cherished his family cottage in Maine.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marsha; his son, Marshall Omans of South Bend, Indiana; a brother, Douglas Omans of Jackson, Michigan; many nieces and nephews; and an Uncle Merlyn (Lilah) Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Daniel and David Omans and a sister-in-law, Mary Omans.
