David M Omans' Obituary
OMANS, DAVID M. Age 58, of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Michigan Center, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 27, 2012 under the loving care of his family and the Center for Hospice Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Merlene (Smith) Omans. David is survived by his wife of 27 years, Denise; five children and three grandchildren, Kevin (Alyssa) Omans and their daughter, Ava, of Detroit, Kari (Jeff) Corser and their children, Kaleb and Kierstin, of Lansing, Nicole (Giorgi) Samadalashvili of Chicago, Spenser Omans and Melody Omans, both of South Bend; three brothers, Douglas (Mary) Omans of Belleville, Daniel Omans of Jackson and Darrell (Marsha) Omans of South Bend; mother-in-law, Leah Bammer Mitchell of Jackson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. David worked for the railroad from 1972 until 2012, starting with Penn Central and retiring from Amtrak. He retired as Conductor on the ""Capital Limited"" and was a Senior Trainer for conductors as well as being a Safety Ambassador Coordinator. David loved spending time with his family, especially taking family vacations to Maine each year; he also enjoyed golfing with friends in South Bend. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ben Norton officiating. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. For those who wish, contributions in David's memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society and/or Center for Hospice.
