David Lee Scott's Obituary
Age 82, of Michigan Center, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Mission Point Health Campus of Jackson and David's family would like to thank the staff there for the compassionate care given to him in his last days. He was born Wednesday, April 24, 1940 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Edward R. and Philomene M. (Rumler) Scott.
David is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gertrude "Tootsie" Susan (Cross) Scott; five children, Sue (Dave) Hamilton, Sheila (Bud) Pagel, Kevin (Debbie) Scott, Dana (Steve) Lee and Dennis (Tiffany) Scott; nine grandchildren, Michael Scott, Scott Bristow, Jason Scott, Becky Wheeler, Kelly Mizerik, Lisa Scott, Jamie Scott, Chad Lee and Branden Scott; 23 great-grandchildren and his brother, Edward Scott.
Early on, he was a caregiver to his first grandson, Michael. Through his working life he was a gifted machinist in the aerospace industry, working at Beauty Equipment and then Scott Machine where he served as Vice-President before retiring in 1995. Providing and caring for his family was always his main priority. He enjoyed outdoor activities including snowmobiling, riding motorcycle, water skiing and trips to the family cabin in Evart. He particularly adored working on "the farm" where he cared for and enjoyed raising goats, llamas, peacocks, razorback hogs (two were named Pork and Beans) and other animals. He was a dedicated husband and father who will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11 am with Father Thomas Helfrich, OSFS officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening 5-8 pm with a Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 pm. The family will also receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 am until service time. Interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Henry Ford Hospice Home.
