Deborah Ann Lantis' Obituary
Deborah Ann Lantis, age 68, of Jackson, passed away at Mission Point Health Campus of Jackson on November 11, 2022 under the loving care of her family and the staff at Mission Point. Deb had battled declining health issues for nearly four years. She was born on September 2, 1954 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Alan and JoAnne (Lentz) Wittkop.
Deb grew up in Saline, MI and was a 1972 graduate of Saline High School. On February 24, 1978 she was married to Scott Lantis and they made their home in Jackson for 44 years; most of that time on the Lantis family farm. She had worked for the State of Michigan for 35 years, retiring in 2008.
Deb was a longtime District and Troop Leader with the Girl Scouts of the USA. She made quilts for the VA Hospital and became a Henry Ford Allegiance Health Caring Hands Volunteer where she knitted hats and quilts for untold numbers of newborns at the hospital. She made a positive impact on the lives of many. Some of her favorite hobbies involved sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, fishing and traveling.
Deborah is survived by her husband of 44 years, Scott Lantis; two sisters, Alaine (Michael) Kline and Brenda (James) Tase; two brothers-in-law, Lynn Lantis (Renee) and Dan Lantis (Tracey); two nieces; two nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Douglas and Mark Wittkop.
Deb’s family would like to thank the staff at Mission Point Health Campus for the wonderful care given to her. A special thanks to those who went above and beyond with the extra attentive care given not only at Mission Point but over the last several years.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial luncheon to honor and celebrate Deb’s life will be held at Gene Davis and Sons Convention Center, 3575 Francis Street, Jackson, MI 49203. This will take place beginning at noon with a short service followed by fellowship on Monday, November 21, 2022. Casual attire is welcomed for the gathering.
