Delores "D.D." Jean Lenhart's Obituary
D.D. passed away on September 11, 2022 in Grayling MI after a long illness at the age of 90.
She was born September 4, 1932 to Esther (Jewell) and Wayne Dunham in Jackson, Michigan. She spent her early life in Napoleon, MI; graduating from Napoleon High School in 1950. She married her husband Bob Lenhart in July of 1950. They were happily married until his passing February 5, 1975. Bob and D.D. travelled around the U.S. for Bob's job; living in California, Michigan, Ohio and New Jersey.
After her husband's passing, D.D. went back to school graduating with a degree in secretarial science. She worked at Commonwealth Associates in Jackson until she retired. She also volunteered at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson and at Warner Elementary in Spring Arbor.
D.D. was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Lenhart, Jr.; her parents, Esther (Jewell) and Wayne Dunham; two sisters, Betty Richardson and Virginia Patterson; her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Paul Wells; and her son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Diane Lenhart. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Lewis; her son, Robert Lenhart (Mary Ellen) and her daughter, Cheryl O'Rourke (Tim). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
D.D. loved helping others, spending time with family, crossword puzzles and making crafts.
A celebration of D.D.'s life will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am with Reverend Larry Rubingh officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In her memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
