I just received word from my sister in law, who taught school at Onstead with Mrs. Brown. I am reaching out to Mr. Brown, Scott, Jeff, and Steven, and there families as someone who spent a very important part of my life, growing up on Sunderland in Detroit. I remember the hockey games in the back yard, I remember cutting your grass, when you guys went away for the summer, I recall my Dad, lifting the puck over Smith's fence, into your Bay window, as you guys were pulling into your driveway. I remember trying to make my way to your front door, on Devil's night, to soap the window, and trying to avoid having water dumped on us from above. I remember all of the kids being together on New Year's Eve, while all of the adults went to the Red Wings game. I remember going to the Grandmont shopping mall, and playing pin ball with Scott.
I recall going to your surprise 25th wedding anniversary, going to Kalamazoo college with Scott to visit the campus, going to the wedding for Scott and his wife, in Boyne City....I recall getting a phone call from the warden at my facility, who was a member at the same YMCA as Mr. Brown, and being given a direct order to contact him.... I remember getting a note from Scott when my Dad passed away in 2010....
I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to spend some of the most important parts of my life, around your family. I learned important lessons about respecting adults from Mr. and Mrs. Brown, which I have passed on to my children and grandchildren...
Lastly I always felt accepted even though I didn't support that other school in Michigan, with the green and white colors...Love, Paul
