Donald P. Risner's Obituary
Age 68, of Jackson, passed away at the VA Ann Arbor Hospital on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Don was born in Jackson on September 27, 1947 to Joseph and Ruth (Lovejoy) Risner. Preceded in death by his father, Joseph and mother, Ruth Hoffman. He is survived by his loving family of four children, Dawn Risner (Ron Smagacz), Stephanie (Jeff) Reed, Adam Risner and Hannah Risner (David Guy); five grandchildren, Erin, Taylre, Jeremy, Payge and Kaiden; great-granddaughter, Madison; brother, Ronnie Risner; loving sister, Linda (Craig) Stone, sister, Karen Lynn; special niece, Jessica Maurer; special friend, Janine Risner; nieces, nephews and many caring and unforgettable friends that have made a large impact on his life. Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, active duty from May of 1965 to May of 1969. He worked as a self-employed contractor, being a master of nearly all the trades; also worked in his garage tinkering with anything that he could potentially create or fix. Don enjoyed astronomy, the banjo, sailing on Lake Michigan and Lake Muskegon; most especially he enjoyed being with friends and family. Per his wishes, a graveside interment service with military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012 on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11:30 am. For those who wish, in appreciation of the wonderful care given to Don, his family request any donations be made to the VA Ann Arbor Hospital, Attn: Details Clerk, 2215 Fuller Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
