Doren Sylvester Eley's Obituary
Doren Sylvester Eley Sr., Age 84, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Doren’s family and friends will gather Monday, October 9, 2023, for a Celebration of Doren’s Life, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 301 Detroit Street, Jackson, MI 49201
Doren was born on December 22, 1938, in Jackson, Michigan to Rennie and Doris (Chase) Eley. He was of Christian Faith and involved with his church for many years. Doren married the love of his life, Georgia, on July 5, 1974, and enjoyed more than 40 years happily married. He served as a member of the Navy Reserve and retired as a machine operator, and he was a member in good standing to the Eagles. He would bring his kids scraps of wood and nails and help them to build “airplanes”. Doren was also known to have taken many naps after work in his favorite wooden rocking chair. Doren was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He loved to snowmobile as much as he loved to hunt.
Doren will be missed by his children; Doren Sylvester Eley Jr, Lorrae Marie (Frank) Drechnowicz, Amanda Eley and Dawn (Shane) Boley, grandchildren; Christy (Josh) Ross, Brandon (Chelsey) Eley, Dustin (Justine) Eley, Andrew Eley, Cliff (Abby) Eley and Bianca Boley, great grandson, Rylan Ross. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Georgia, his parents, siblings and his son, Cameron Eley.
