Doris Aitson's Obituary
Doris Aitson, 99, formerly of Onsted passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Oaks of Woodfield, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Doris’s family and friends will gather Friday, October 28, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Maple Shade Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Sheeks will officiate.
She was born on August 12, 1923 in Lumberton, North Carolina to Oscar and Margie (Locklear) Chavis. Doris married the love of her life, Vernon Aitson, on December 12, 1945, in Lumberton, North Carolina. Doris was devoted to her church and her family. She was an inspiration to many who came in contact with her. In addition to growing up farming, she was a teacher, a waitress, she worked at Boeing Aircraft in Kansas where she was nicknamed “Rosie the riveter” because she worked on the wings! And at the age of 50 she went to work at Ford Motor Company until her retirement at the age of 69!
Doris leaves to cherish her memories one son Vern Leslie (Ann) Aitson, daughters Olita (James) Gallegos of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Maurina (Dennis) Richardson of Glenville, Georgia; nine grandchildren; a host of great grands; and great great grands; brothers Ted Chavis and Bobby (Connie) Chavis of Lumberton, North Carolina, and sisters Emma Taylor of El Dorado, Kansas and Ethel (Reggie) Howes of Onsted, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her parent’s Margie and Oscar Chavis; a grandson, Jerome Tsatoke, six brothers and three sisters.
