Doris Ann Bowman's Obituary
Doris Ann Bowman, 90, of Jackson, Michigan (formerly from Brooklyn and Grass Lake), passed away peacefully at Jackson County Medical Care Facility on May 6, 2024. Doris’ family and friends will gather Friday, May 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Home – Brooklyn Chapel, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Larry Rubingh.
Doris was born on December 9, 1933, in Swanton, Ohio to Calvin and Elizabeth McNutt. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Bowman of Grass Lake, two sisters, two brothers, and her special friend, Lauren Flick.
Doris graduated from Onsted High School in 1951. She worked at Jackson Community College as an account specialist until she retired in 1989. Doris was a deeply religious person that enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening, playing cards, bingo and most importantly, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always put a sparkle in her eye. In her younger years, she also played softball and received the all-star award in 1977 and 1978.
Doris will be greatly missed by her three children, Linda Sheppard (Doug) of Clinton Township; David Vandeventer (Patty) of Harrison; and Dale Vandeventer (Joy) of O’Fallon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brian Vandeventer, Rob Payne (Amanda), Tim Dodge, Dominick Vandeventer, Grace Vandeventer, Hope Vandeventer, and five great grandchildren (Bailey, Benjamin, Samantha, Hailey and Ava).
