Doris Elaine Rodgers' Obituary
RODGERS, DORIS ELAINE Age 79, of Jackson, lost her battle with cancer on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Allegiance Health. She was born February 21, 1933 to the Reverend Paul and Elaine (Entrikin) Collins who preceded her in death, as well as her son, Timothy Lee Rodgers; brother, Leo Collins and sister, Esther Champion. Doris is survived by one son, Randy (Becky) Rodgers; two granddaughters, Randi Rodgers and Robie (Kenneth) Kimball; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and McKenna Kimball; brothers, David, James (Jeannine) and Peter (Gail) Collins; sisters, Joyce (Jim) Hitts, Sharon Sanford and Ruth (Larry) Smith; many nieces, nephews and other relatives, including sisters-in-law, Marion Collins and Shirley (Larry) Jacobs; brother-in-law, Gordon Champion and many friends. Doris graduated from East Jackson High School; had worked at the Dome drive-in restaurant, Michigan Bell Telephone Company and the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed playing the piano, painting, bowling, golfing and traveling extensively with the love of her life, Ron Raley, who also survives. She was an animal lover, especially dogs. Doris wished to be cremated and have her ashes placed with her son, Timothy. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 11 am at the Michigan Center Bible Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Church.
