Dorothy Jean Toman's Obituary
12/24/1928-8/11/2019 age 90, formerly of Grass Lake Township, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, at her daughter's home in Canton. She is survived by five children, Kathy (Gordon) Smith, Susan (Stephen) Edstrom, Mary (Al) Oliva, Pam (Jim) Adams and Judy (Randy) Linna; daughter-in-law, Diane Toman; two step-daughters, Cassandra (Wayne) Mueller and Donna Davisson; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Toman; son, Donald T. Toman; two daughters, Phyllis and Deborah Toman; grandson, Jamie Adams; granddaughter, Amanda Linna; parents, Lynn H. and Elizabeth M. (maiden-Flint) Curtis; sisters, Gladys Papierski, Nona Evelyn Hudson-Potter and Edna Holland; brothers, Harry, Raymond and Phillip Curtis. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished family times. She owned and operated the Tastee Freeze on Prospect St. in Jackson for many years, worked with her husband Donald at Toman Real Estate in Michigan Center, collected stamps and photos and enjoyed working in her garden. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Bruce Mast officiating. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Contributions in her memory are directed to the American Cancer Society or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
