Dorothy M. Wheeler's Obituary
Age 98, of Ionia, a former longtime resident of Clarklake, passed away at Green Acres of Ionia on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 under the loving care of her family, Green Acres Staff and Ionia Area Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 2006 and two sisters, Blanche and Geraldine. Dorothy is survived by two children, James (Carol) Wheeler of Ionia and Linda Wheeler of Poplar Grove, IL; six grandchildren, James, Lori Sue and Ronald J. (Jaenn Jo) Wheeler, Kevin (Bobbie) Wheaton, Julie (Robin) Caverly and Jenny (Stan) Heslet; step-grandson, David Lawrence; 15 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie (Jim) Briggs of St. Louis, MI; brother, Donovan (Blanche) Carter of Orange Park, FL; special niece, Sharon Holsworth; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid bowler and was at one time the owner of the ice cream stand at Jefferson Road and US 127. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment service will be held at Roseland Memorial Gardens in the springtime.
