Dorwin John DeGroote's Obituary
Dorwin John DeGroote, 80, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022.
He was born on February 13, 1942 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Vernis and Fern (Compton) DeGroote.
Dorwin was an avid photographer, historian and family genealogist. He loved working on computers, repairing them and giving them away to those in need. Dorwin also volunteered to teach the elderly how to use the computers. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and New Horizons Community Church where he volunteered as well. Dorwin was a motorcycle enthusiast, avid reader and loved tractors. He would help anyone, anyway possible. Dorwin spent his life in agriculture, raising Brown Swiss cattle. He was a terrific storyteller, and he loved his family, especially his grandchildren above all things. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dorwin is survived by his son, Charles (Cheryl) DeGroote; his siblings, Darold (Mary) DeGroote, David (Susan) DeGroote and Mary (Francis) Norwell; grandchildren, Courtney A. (Quinton) Carter, Charles J. DeGroote IV, and Cadence E. DeGroote; one great grandson, Albert J. Carter VI; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Michael Norwell.
