Douglas Vernon Shanes' Obituary
Age 58, of Leoni Township, passed away at his home August 7, 2015. He is survived by four children, Barbara Shanes, Douglas E. (Jessica Hilgendorf) Shanes, Tyler (Heather) Shanes and Rachel (Tim) Morris; seven grandchildren, Michael, Kiley, Lucas, Carmen, Gabriella, Avery and Makynzie; three siblings, Ken Shanes, Nancy (Joe) VanDam and David (Hanna Laura) Shanes and his former wife, Rebecca Shanes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. and Marcella J. (maiden-Pullian) Shanes. Mr. Shanes was a retired signalman from Conrail, was a very caring and loving man who doted on his grandchildren. Mr. Shanes has been cremated. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at the funeral home Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 1 pm with Pastor John Tovey of the Michigan Center Bible Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Contributions in his memory are directed to his loved ones.
