Duaine was born on May 12, 1937, in Gladstone, MI, to Elmer and Virginia Morin, a true “Yooper” from birth. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1956, in Wayne, MI. On October 27, 1957, he married the love of his life, Mary Catherine Bettega. Duaine graduated from the Electronics Institute of Detroit with a degree in Electronic Engineering in 1962.
He worked for the railroad for 39 years with New York Central Railroad, which became Penn Central and later, Conrail, as the Regional Engineer of Communications. Duaine enjoyed outdoor activities including boating, sailing, snowmobiling, hunting, and motorcycling across the USA with his wife. He loved music, especially country, bluegrass and Christian genres, and enjoyed playing guitar. It was a joy to him to serve the church by helping with the sound system as well as helping with Arts in the Park with his good friend, Bob Elrod. He greatly loved his wife and family and was a good friend to many. Duaine had a great sense of humor and loved sharing jokes with others. He had a deep faith and trust in the Lord, which was evident to all who knew him. He was a good listener and had a gentle voice of wisdom.
Duaine will be missed by his wife, Mary Morin, his children, James Morin of Boulder, Colorado, Cindy (Jon) Hawthorne of Brooklyn, Sandy (Dusty) Schneider of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Daniel Hawthorne, Amy (Cole) Lantz, Michelle (Jason) Cherry, Julie (Charles) Jones, Mary (Aaron) Brown, Nicole Schneider, Jeffrey Schneider; and seven great-grandchildren.
