Duane Paul Iverson's Obituary
Duane Paul Iverson, 87, of Pleasant Lake, Michigan passed away on April 8, 2024 in Jackson Michigan surrounded by family members. Family and friends will come together to remember him on April 15, 2024 at the Eineder Funeral Home located at 820 Fifth Street in Michigan Center, MI. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11. After the service, the burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon, MI.
Duane was born in Jackson, MI on December 10, 1936 to Earl Sr. and Rosella (Schramm) Iverson. On September 6, 1958, he married the love of his life, Joan Rosynek. Duane was a 1955 graduate of Napoleon High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1959. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army after graduation and was stationed at Fort Ord. On his return to Michigan, he taught at Breckinridge and Grand Blanc schools from 1961-1965. He left teaching to begin a career as an industrial engineer at GM Fisher Body division in Flint and later at GM General Offices in Warren MI. He retired from General Motors in 1992 after 27 years in Industrial Engineering. He served his country honorably with the Michigan National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves until his retirement in 1996, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was a member of the Munith Lions Club for 22 years and held the offices of President and Sight Chairman. During his service with the Lions Club he contributed to the original installation of a Weather Alert System for Henrietta Township. Family was an important part of his life. He encouraged his children to achieve college degrees and to live by his values of honesty and integrity.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Joan and three children: Lori (Valerio)Buhay, Douglas (Tracey) Iverson, and Joseph (Amy) Iverson, grandchildren Jason (Michelle)Buhay, Joel Buhay, Grace, Elliot, Evan and Abigail Iverson and Madeline (Steven) Latino and Zachery (Erin) Iverson, great grandchildren Millie, Elsie, and Cooper Buhay, his brothers Kenneth and Richard (Karen) Iverson, sisters: Nancy Muncy, Jean (Wayne) Grodi, Lucille (Harvey) Wright and Barbara (Bill) Aldinger and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Earl Jr. and John Iverson and sisters Marion Vida and Joyce Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Duane’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Lions Club.
