Edith Lorraine Nevins' Obituary
Edith Nevins, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and retired nurse, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, at Jackson County Medical Care Facility, with her loving family by her side. She was 75 years old. Private family services will take place at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. Interment at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
Edith was married to the love of her life, Larry Nevins, for 58 wonderful years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and unwavering support. She began her nursing career at Cedar Knoll and dedicated her life to caring for others, especially hospice patients. Her career spanned decades and concluded with her retirement from Evangelical Home of Michigan in Saline, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives.
Edith was a woman of many joys. She loved shopping—QVC was a favorite pastime, though she was just as happy strolling through Kohl’s, Sam’s Club, or any outlet mall. Summers found her floating peacefully in her pool or relaxing in the sun with a book in hand and a warm cup of coffee nearby.
Earlier in life, she took pride in her flourishing flower and vegetable gardens, and lovingly canned food to provide for her family. She also had a deep love for animals, which remained with her throughout her life. She was the heart of her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always cheering them on and offering endless love and support.
Edith is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Larry Nevins; her sister, Dawn Meads; her children, Victoria (Mark) Roche, Larry (Mila) Nevins and Renee (Wayne) Stilson; her grandchildren, Mark (Chelsi) Roche, Kayla (Josh) Sterrett, Larry (Jake) Nevins and Zachary (Catelyn) Roche; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Beatrice Meads; and siblings, Merle (Butch) Meads, Dorthy Willtrout and Sharon Bowen.
In honor of her love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Please leave a message of comfort for Edith’s family or sign her guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
Though she has left this world, the love, strength, and kindness she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
