Edward Anthony Sawicki's Obituary
Edward Sawicki died during the weekend of January 19, 2024 at his home in Napoleon, MI. He was 67. Affectionately known by those who loved him as Eddie, Bro-ski, and “Edgie,” he was a beloved brother, uncle, son, dad, granddad, and friend.
Ed was born on October 10, 1956 in Detroit to Julia and John Sawicki. He was selected to attend the prestigious Cass Technical High School for elite students, and then graduated from Saline High School after the family moved to a farm in Bridgewater.
Later, Ed developed his mastery of precision welding while working on life-saving devices at Sarns, Inc. After Sarns, he helped develop high-end bicycle accessories at Eclipse. He then spent over 25 years working in the injection mold industry at Johnson Controls and Milacron.
Ed had a life-long love of fast cars. Whether in his Corvette, Roadrunner, or any one of his many Mustangs, he would never turn down a drag race. Ed would crank up Alice Cooper or Taylor Swift and step on the gas. He also enjoyed motorcycles and put over 100,000 miles on his favorite—a 1988 Harley Softail.
Ed was always interested in history and could offer a wealth of information on anything related to American Indian culture. He had an affinity to nature and was kind to both animals and people. He had a great sense of humor and deep sense of friendship. If you were a friend of Ed's, you were a friend for life. Above all, Ed was a gentle soul, but he lived life on his own terms, never compromising his beliefs and standards, and always accepting others with care and compassion.
We will never forget his easy laugh and smile and the love and kindness he gave to his family and shared to the world.
He is survived by his sister Patricia (Garth) Marsac; John P. (Claire) Sawicki; Judith Golden; Charles (Lori) Sawicki; children Nicole Wurster and Patrick (Susan) Wurster; four grandchildren; nephews Nathan Sawicki, Robert Marsac, Lance Marsac, Patrick Marsac, Matt Sawicki, and niece Christine Hurst; close friend Cheryl Wurster; former wife, Linda Feldkamp; countless friends from Saline, Bridgewater, Manchester, and Johnson Controls; and faithful feline companion, Panther.
He was preceded in death by his brother Steven (Hilda) Sawicki and nephews Garth T. Marsac and John C. Sawicki.
