Ervin Gene Hinton Sr.'s Obituary
Age 86, of Summit Township, passed away at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home November 28, 2019, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of the HFAHH Staff. He is survived by his four children; Ervin G. (Nina) Hinton Jr., Michael (LeAnn) Hinton, Kathy Hamlin and Christopher (Penny) Hinton, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two brothers: Don and Jim Hinton, one sister; Judy (Sonny) Davis and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years; Violet (maiden name-Galloup) in 2002, his parents; Charles E. and Grace (maiden name-Farwycke) Hinton Sr. and twelve brothers and sisters. He was a gifted tool and die maker, working throughout his career at various local shops, including Jackson Wire and Chelsea Industries. He was a gifted woodworker, enjoyed golf and bowling and had a life-long and abiding interest in the activities of his children and grandchildren. Ervin served the Nation in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Richard F. Smith American Legion Post #29 (3200 Lansing Ave, Jackson, MI 49202). At his request cremation has taken place. He will be interred with full Military Honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. His late wife, Violet will be interred with him. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Richard F. Smith Post #29. His family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt thanks the compassionate care provided by the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home.
