Eugene George Gedert's Obituary
Eugene George Gedert, 86, passed away August 22, 2022. Eugene’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel, 137 S. Main St., Brooklyn, MI. His funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Eugene was born on June 4, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio to Aloysius and Helen (Laux) Gedert. Eugene began in the printing trade in Toledo before moving to University Lithographs in Ann Arbor, MI where he worked for many years. He was known as a self-sufficient do-it-yourselfer who built his own cottage, an electric car and his own solar panel installation. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.
As a dedicated single father, Eugene will be missed by his children, Larry Gedert of Ypsilanti, MI; Steve Gedert; Jeff (Lorrie) Gedert; and Sherry Holloway of Ft. Worth, TX; siblings, Marilyn Stachowiak and Louis Gedert; nine grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gerald, Leonard, Daniel, Roy and a sister, Joann Schwind.
