Evelyn Regina Leathead's Obituary
Age 93, of Vandercook Lake, passed away Monday January 31, 2022 at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility. Evelyn was born in Jackson, Michigan on Thursday, June 19, 1928 to the late Emil and Caroline (Hieler) Saumier. She is survived by six children, David (Sharon) Leathead, Sharon (Douglas) VanEpps, Kenneth (Lorraine) Leathead, Regina (Edwin) Ewers, Michael Leathead and Gary (Michele) Leathead; 16 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Leathead in 2005; two brothers, Richard and William Saumier; two sisters, Genevieve Zyckowski and Rosemary Saumier; grandson, Brian VanEpps and granddaughter, Misti Fry. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed Bingo games and had belonged to the Monday Nighters Bingo Club. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11 am with Rev. James E. Sprunger officiating. Interment Horton Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6-8 pm. Contributions in her memory are directed to Cascades Humane Society.
