Evelyn Marie Luckhardt's Obituary
Evelyn Marie Luckhardt, 83, passed away July 24, 2023. Evelyn’s family and friends will gather Friday, July 28, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at St. James United Church of Christ, 11005 W. Michigan Ave., Saline, MI. Her funeral service will immediately follow at the church at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Case Van Kempen will serve as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery.
Evelyn was born on October 18, 1939, in Manchester, Michigan to Carl and Dorthea (Gauss) Schumacher. After graduating from Manchester High School in 1958, Evelyn married the love of her life, Karl Luckhardt on June 13, 1959. She worked at Unit Packaging for over forty years. She was a wonderful baker of pretzels and pies that no one is able to duplicate. She also enjoyed playing cards, helping out around the farm, and canning her bountiful produce from the garden. Evelyn was a long time member of the St. James United Church of Christ.
Evelyn will be missed by her husband, Karl; her children, Nancy (Peter) Vanderlugt; Jerry (Tami) Luckhardt; grandchildren Jason (Heather) Thompson; Mark (Megan) Luckhardt; Jacquelyn (Kaleb) Thompson-Torbet; Elizabeth (Joshua) Askew; Emily (Michael) Reisdorf; seven great-grandchildren, Amelia, Oliver, Parker, Ames, Jocelyn, Micah, Arlo; and a sister, Arlene Fugate.
