Fern E. Matlow (Gilchrist)'s Obituary
Age 93, of Leoni Township, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Countryside Care Center. She is survived by four children, Paul (Jennie) Gilchrist, Marsha Eley, Linda (John) Worden and Alan (Connie) Matlow; step-son, Kelly Matlow; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; her sister, Joanne (Cliff) Reprogal; forever family friend, Margie Stovall; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Gilchrist and Paul Matlow; her parents, Floyd and Myrtle (maiden -Miller); sister, Phyllis Hammock and three brothers, Vaughn, Everett and Marvin Wilson. Fern worked as a ""Rosie the Riveter"" making spark plugs during World War II, also had worked at the City Bank of Jackson and many years at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Home. She enjoyed her time as a private duty care-giver; and enjoyed sewing and hooking rugs. Services will be held at the funeral home Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11 am with Rev. Richard Brooks officiating. Interment Maxon Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday evening 5-8 pm. Contributions in her memory are directed to the Jackson County Veterans Van Fund (1715 Lansing Ave #689, Jackson, MI 49202).
