Florence Kathlyn Riley's Obituary
Age 100, of Summit Township, passed away at her home Saturday, October 8, 2022 surrounded by her loving family and under the medical supervision of Careline Hospice. Florence was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, December 30, 1921 to the late Howard E. and Florence (maiden-Voelker) Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Clark, Janice (Larry) Carrigan and Betty Bigger; step-son, Wayne (Barbara) Riley; six grandchildren, Daniel Clark, Karen (Jeff) Ostrofsky, Michael (Amy) Carrigan, Patrick (Kate) Carrigan, Jason (Tonia) Bickford and Tara (Tim) Caraway; step-grandchildren, Robert, Laura and Daniel; several great and great-great grandchildren; her sister, Mary Belle Schneider; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clare Wyman Riley in 1956 and her brother, Howard E. Smith Jr.
For fifty years she was the office manager at a local Chiropractic Clinic. She enjoyed homemaking, cleaning, cooking, baking and was famous for her zucchini bread.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church (275 W. Michigan Ave, Jackson) with Rev. Julie Nygaard of the Jackson First United Methodist Church and Rev. Dr. James D. Hegedus officiating. Private interment of cremains will reunite Florence with Clare at Chapel Cemetery, Parma, Michigan.
