Franklin Delano Goddard's Obituary
Franklin Delano Goddard, 89, of Brooklyn passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living, Adrian, Michigan after a lengthy battle with Diabetes. His ashes will be interred at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
He was born on April 25, 1933, in Bear Creek, Alabama to James and Dora (Setliff) Goddard. Frank married the love of his life, the late Helen Knight, on September 1, 1956, in Tecumseh, Michigan. Frank was a graduate of Phil Campbell High School, Alabama. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the years of 1951 – 1955. Frank was stationed in Japan and received these awards for Korean Service, the United National Medal, Japan Occupation Medal, 1 Battle Star 2nd Korean Winter, the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his service, Frank graduated from Adrian College with a bachelor’s degree. Frank was a member of several American Legions, Post 225 in Lansing, Post 275 in Adrian and the Wilbur-Bartlett Post 315 in Brooklyn. He was an avid poker player, and bowler, receiving many trophies and was bowler of the year for Adrian and Brooklyn. Frank enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the Upper Peninsula. He also enjoyed meeting with family members while traveling south, Kentucky, Alabama, etc. In his spare time, he developed a craft in woodworking, making shelves and cabinets for family members. Frank enjoyed walking, until Neuropathy robbed him of that ability. He then became a people watcher from his front porch, waiving to the neighbors as they passed by. Above all Frank, cherished his time with his family. He was a devoted husband, until Helen’s passing and a loving father, grandfather and uncle.
Frank is survived by his children, Rebecca (Allan) Vesely, Kevin Goddard, David (Jacqueline Hallauer) Goddard and Doug (Tikdem) Goddard; his sister, Ellawayne Rose; grandchildren Danielle, Acacia, Chelsea, Michael, Adrienne, Matthew, Morgan, Theodore and Abigail; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen; a daughter, Cynthia (Kundrick); a son, Anthony Goddard, two brothers and six sisters.
