Gale Arthur Steinaway's Obituary
Gale A. Steinaway, age 71, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Gale was born on June 25, 1952, to Harold and Julia (Ahrens) Steinaway. Gale lived his entire life on the family’s farm in Manchester.
Gale will be missed by his daughter, Julia and her husband Dave Carson; his long-time partner Ginger; his sisters, Janice Crismore (Steinaway) and Diana Parr and her husband Doug; his nieces Sherry Drbal, Lisa Michelin, Kim Wolf, Jodi Tye and Kelly Tuttle and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nina, and his sister, Carole.
Gale devoted his life to caring for his family’s centennial farm. He had a deep knowledge of the farm’s history which dates back to 1873. He had an uncanny ability to recall facts, such as the prices of a bushel of corn, or the cost of a bale of hay, dating back to his time as a young boy working the farm with his father.
Gale will be remembered as a kind and caring man who enjoyed spending time at his farm with family and friends. He enjoyed looking at pictures and documents from previous generations and especially the opportunity to show his son-in-law, Dave the beauty of farm life. Gale was part of the “Men’s night”, a group of longtime friends that gathered regularly for dinner at different Manchester farms.
To honor Gale’s memory, the family will hold a celebration of life on Tuesday, October 24th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the family farm in Manchester.
