Gary Lynn Canterbury's Obituary
Gary Lynn Canterbury, 67, of Cement City, passed away after a lengthy illness, Friday, August 18, 2023 at Jackson County Medical Care Facility, Jackson. Gary’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel, with his funeral service to be held at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Cement City Baptist Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jeff Sheeks will officiate.
He was born on June 30, 2023, in Beckley, West Virginia to Kelsey and Devetha Canterbury. Gary married the love of his life, Wilma Roupe, on September 5, 1992, in West Virginia at Akers Baptist Church. They had 31 blessed years together. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle man that was devoted to his wife. Gary was very strong in his faith and loved to listen the Christian music and his audible bible. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Gary never met a stranger and had the gift of gab. He truly loved his nieces and nephews, his cat Buttons and sister-in-laws dog, Shiloh. Gary enjoyed antiquing, woodworking and making bird houses. He was very creative. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gary is survived by his wife, Wilma; a sister-in-law, Barbara Cripps and a brother -in-law, Butch Roupe; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Earl Canterbury.
