Gayle DeEtte (Boldrey)Mason, 85, passed away under the loving care of her family and the staff at Cascade Senior Care Center, December 27, 2025. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Rita’s church in Clark Lake on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior to Mass. Fr Bosco Padamattummal will serve as celebrant. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon Township, Michigan
Gayle was born on August 29, 1940, in Jackson, Michigan to Wayne Boldrey and Carlene Burns and also the step-daughter of her beloved step-father John Burns. Gayle graduated from Vandercook Lake high school with the class of 1958. She married her beloved husband, Paul D. Mason, on January 31, 1959, at St. Paul’s church, in Jackson, Michigan. They enjoyed 55 years together until his passing in 2013. Over time, Gayle was employed by the Jackson County Treasurer’s office and Consumers Energy Company. She was also employed by Michigan International Speedway. She will be remembered by her strong faith and for many years she was and still is a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Clark Lake, Michigan.
Gayle will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sally and Daniel Wawiernia of Jackson, Michigan; her sister, and brother-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Nye of Fort Myers, Florida; nephew, Douglas (Karrie) Nye and nieces, Amy (Douglas) Blome and Suzanne (John) Decker; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Wayne Boldrey and Carlene Burns, and her step-father, John Burns.
