Geneva Baker's Obituary
Geneva Baker, 91, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Provision Living at Canton. Geneva’s family and friends will gather Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held following visitation at 11:00. Entombment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor David Schwartz of Napoleon United Methodist Church to serve as celebrant.
She was born on May 19, 1931, in Baisden, West Virginia to Natheniel and Stella (Cline) Trent. Geneva married the love of her life, James Baker on December 18, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan. They had 65 loving years together before his passing in 2020. She will be remembered as a friendly, sociable woman and a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. Geneva attended Napoleon United Methodist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Garden City. She spent her life as a homemaker and was a seamstress. She loved gardening and was proud of her flower gardens around her home.
Geneva will be missed by her daughters Karen Sheldon of Cedar Springs, MI and Pam (Robert) Whitlock of Canton, MI; a brother Earl Trent and a sister Genevieve Cline; grandchildren Erin (Dave) Cairy and Blair (Nicole) Shellenbarger; great grandchildren Jack, Liam, Jenna and Isaac; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents and brother Clarence Trent.
